Sugar price rises on good demand
Mumbai, Nov 2 (UNI) Spot sugar prices rose on good demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association today said.
The Central Government has released 13 lakh tonnes of sugar as non-levy for the current month as against 12 lakh tonnes of quota released during the corresponding month last year.
Sugar small and medium grades went up by Re one and Rs five per quintal on reduced stock supply.
Sugar in ex-mill small and medium grades remainedf steady on moderate demand.
Following were the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,757/1,780, medium grade: Rs 1,775/1,830, Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,735/1,760, medium grade: Rs 1,765/1,800.
