Stone India profits up by 50 per cent

Kolkata, Nov 02: Stone India Ltd has recorded a profit of Rs. 6.05 crore in the first half of the current year against Rs.4.02 crore in the same period in 2005, recording an increase of 50 per cent.

For the six months ended September 2006, turnover was at Rs.

39.91 crore, registering an increase of 32 per cent as compared to the same period last year.

During the quarter under review, Stone India has received an initial Defence Freight Car conversion order, on completion of which, the company expects to receive a bulk order from the Ministry of Defence, the company said in a statement.

It is also actively pursuing export markets, the statement said.
