Ritwik sails into semis in Western India squash tourney

Mumbai, Nov 2 (UNI) Top seed Ritwik Bhattacharya sailed into the Men's Open semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Sandeep Jangra in the 63rd CCI Indiabulls Western India Squash Championship here today.

The highest ranking Indian in the world at 38, Bhattacharya breezed past a hapless Jangra with a 9-0, 9-4, 9-4 win in the quarter-finals.

Among the juniors, fancied Ishan Advani survived a scare before fashioning a 9-7, 9-6, 5-9, 0-9, 9-3 win over a determined Rahil Fazalbhoy in a pulsating boys under-13 quarter-final match.

Mahesh Mangaonkar enjoyed a rewarding day when he entered the semi-finals in the boys under-13 and under-15 categories.

Chennai's Cyril Kuhn crushed Riyad Servai 9-1, 9-2, 9-2 to enter the boys under-19 quarter-finals.

Amongst the Professionals, Sanjay Pawar shocked top seed Mahesh Verma 9-2, 9-7, 9-0 to set up a title clash with Sachin Jadhav who beat fancied Vijay Waghela 2-9, 9-4, 9-2, 9-0.

Boys U-19 (PQF): Cyril Kuhn (Chennai) bt Riyad Servai 9-1, 9-2, 9-2.

Boys U-15 (QF): Mahesh Mangaonkar bt Aditya Kochhar 9-0, 9-0, 9-2; Aadit Zaveri bt S. Mistry 9-2, 9-0, 9-2.

Boys U-13 (QF): Caran Arora bt Arjun Kochhar 9-3, 9-5, 9-5; Ishan Advani bt Rahil Fazalbhoy 9-7, 9-6, 5-9, 0-9, 9-3; Mahesh Mangaonkar bt L. Vardhan 9-4, 91, 9-2.
