Madras HC closes petition on case against Vaiko
Chennai, Nov 2 (UNI) Madras High Court today closed a petition seeking a direction to the police to register a case against MDMK General Secretary Vaiko for his speech at a public meeting on August 21, allegedly in support of the banned LTTE.
Mr Justice R Raghupathy who closed the petition filed by Congress Member K Paul said petitioner was at liberty to proceed further, if so advised, in accordance with law before the appropriate forum.
The judge also recorded the submission of the Government Advocate that the case had been investigated and was concluded as false.
According to the petitioner, Vaiko delivered a provocative speech 'inciting violence' at a public meeting in Mambalam on August 21.
He had warned not to create Kashmir in Tamil Nadu and openly praised LTTE Leader Prabhakaran.
Hence, the petitioner lodged a complaint with Inspector of Police, Mambalam Police Station, to take action against Vaiko.
As there was no response, the petitioner filed the present petition.
