Industries to be set up on barren land: Bhattacharjee

Purulia, Nov 02: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said industries would be set up on barren land of Purulia and Bankura districts.

Addressing a rally on the occassion of 'Banga Bhukti' golden jublee celebrations at Puncha, 50 km from here, Mr Bhattacharjee narrated the sorroy state of the people here before 1956.

He also reiterated to build industries even in the cultivable land here.

'' We need only 150 lakh mt of paddy annually for the state and industries will be set up on other land, '' he categorically said.

He assured to build the steel plant here and had already discussed the project with a few industrialists.
