Ghuwara breaks Malehra jinx
Chhatarpur, MP, Nov 2 (UNI) By emerging victorious in the Malehra assembly constituency bypoll today, Bharatiya Janata Party nominee Kapoorchand Ghuwara broke a jinx whereby the constituency never elected a candidate twice earlier.
Way back in 1980, Mr Ghuwara won Malehra under the Communist Party of India banner. The political leader has also erased caste equations by bagging votes even from Scheduled Castes, tribes and minorities.
Mr Ghuwara has been contesting from the constituency since 1977.
He took third spot as CPI(Marxist) nominee in 1985, 1990, 1993 and 2003 but was runners-up in 1998.
