Former SIMI chief hatching conspiracy: Police
Indore, Nov 2 (UNI) The City police has arrested former Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) president Imran Ansari, who was brought here for a hearing, and another SIMI activist while the duo were hatching a conspiracy along with other workers at a hotel.
The police said that Ansari and Abdul Rajjak were apprehended yesterday.
''Following a recommendation from Indore Police, two personnel Rajesh and Parasram were suspended for dereliction of duty,'' said Khandwa Superintendent of Police K D Parashar.
Ansari, who was brought here from Khandwa, gave the escorting personnel the slip and conducted the SIMI meeting. Activists Gulrej and Akhtar alias Chand, who attended the gathering, are absconding.
In the wake of the Mumbai transit terror blasts, SIMI activists were rounded up and Ansari was arrested at Bhopal. He also stands accused of instigating a riot at Khandwa.
