Conviction rate rises in Bihar courts
Patna, Nov 2 (UNI) Altogether 4726 accused in different criminal cases were convicted from January to October in the current year in Bihar.
Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Abhaynand claimed yesterday that accelerated disposal of cases became possible in Fast Track courts following speedy investigation and submissions of chargesheets by police.
'' Nine accused were awarded capital punishment, while another 941 criminals were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life, '' he said.
Increased conviction rate had acted as a deterrent to the criminals and thus helped decline in overall crime rate, Mr Abhayanand argued.
