BJP can go to any extent: Uma Bharti
Bhopal, Nov 2: Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) Founder-President and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti today alleged that the bypolls to Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency and Malehra assembly constituency proved that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could ''go to any extent'' for the sake of votes and the seat of power.
''Terror tactics alone led to the BJP candidate's victory,'' the firebrand sadhvi said while referring to BJS nominee Rekha Yadav being vanquished at Malehra -- that falls within her home territory -- by the BJP's Kapoorchand Ghuwara.
''The BJP usually wins by a margin of 1.5 lakh in Vidisha but this time round the party received only 1.5 lakh votes. This is an indicator of decline and the BJP's national leadership should understand. That party used wealth, liquor and unsocial elements to secure these victories,'' she said.
Claiming that even in the face of such adverse circumstances, her five-month-old outfit registered an effective presence, Ms Bharti added that she considered the party as above the individual.
''Just as Ravan abducted Sita, public opinion was abducted in these byelections. Now a war will take place and Ravan will have to face defeat,'' the sanyasin warned.
