Areva India Q3 net surges 205 pc

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Areva T&D India Ltd, power generation and electricity transmission and distribution solutions provider, today posted a 205 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 36 crore for the third quarter ended Septemer 30, 2006, as against Rs 11.8 crore during the corresponding period last year.

The company's operating profit ratio increased to 11.3 per cent as against 7.1 per cent for the transmission and distribution (T&D) business during the same period last year.

The order book position was healthy at Rs 1,500 crore.

The company has successfully manufactured, tested and delivered the 765 kV Circuit Breaker - India's first wholly manufactured 765 kV circuit breaker from the High Voltage unit at Perungudi, Chennai, which reaffirms its leadership in the 765 kV segment.

The demand for 765 kV products is likely to increase to aid reduction in transmission losses and higher power transfer, the company said in a statement.
