2800 kg poppy seized in Kashmir

Srinagar. Nov 2 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have seized 63 bags of poppy straw weighing 2800 kg in Pulwama district, an official spokesman said.

Police raided Haji Darpora, Lauter in Pulwama district where the poppy was being packed in apple boxes and loaded on a truck.

The smugglers had also packed the poppy in used sugar gunny bags for transportation of consignment, he added.

Police have registered a case and seized the truck.
