Two kidnappers killed in encounter

Bangalore, Nov 1 (UNI) In a pre-dawn operation, two kidnappers were shot dead after an encounter near Sarjapur area on the outskirts of the city today.

Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao told newspersons here that a gang of six member, had allegedly kidnapped a land developer in Hoskote town in Bangalore Rural district few days back and were demanding a ransom money of over Rs two crore for his release. A case was also registered in Hoskote police station in this regard.

Acting on a tip-off, the city crime branch police raided a house in Neelasandra area in the city last night and successfully rescued the victim Nazir besides arresting two other captures Tippu and Masthan.

After the raid the police team went to Sarjapur area where two other Kidnappers were waiting to receive the ransom money. On seeing the Police force the gang members opened fire. In a brief encounter the police gunned down both the culprits. Two policemen received minor injuries in the incident, he added.

The kidnappers who were killed have been identified as Gafoor (32) and Goru (37).

Mr Rao visited the encounter spot along with senior officials.
