NSKFD distributes Rs 296.90 Cr for various schemes

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) has disbursed Rs 296.90 crore for covering 1,28,044 beneficiaries under various schemes up to September.

Rs 33.17 crore out of the amount has been provided under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana to cover 40,578 women beneficiaries, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar told the Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry at a meting here.

The meeting was called to discuss the functioning of the NSKFDC.

NSKFDC is an Apex Corporation under the Ministry of Social Justice&Empowerment with an authorized share capital of Rs 200.00 crore and paid up capital of Rs 154.355 crore. It was incorporated on January 24, 1997, as a company not for profit under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956.

The objective of the corporation is to promote socio-economic uplift of Safai Karamcharis/Scavengers and their dependents by way of providing financial assistance at concessional rates of interest for any viable income generating activity through the State Channelising Agencies (SCAs).

The Corporation provides training and concessional loan to Safai Karamcharis to start their self employment ventures.
