Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has announced former MP L Ramana as its candidate for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha by election.
The TDP Politburo decided to field Ramana as there were considerable number of Backward Class(BC) voters in the constituency.
Congress High Command had already selected MLA T Jeevan Reddy to contest against Chandrasekhara Rao.
The BJP also announced the candidature of former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao and made it clear that the party was committed to the formation of seperate Telangana.
It is not yet known if the Communist Parties which are not very strong in the district would field their candidates.
Talking to newspersons here at Karimnagar, Mr Ramana said he would highlight the development of Telangana, as the TDP government had done a lot of development in the district.
He expressed confidence his party would defeat both the Congress and the TRS ''as both had cheated the people of the region''.
The TDP was against the division of Andhra Pradesh, he said, adding that the TRS Chief would be fighting the election highlighting the need for a separate state.
