Dimapur, Nov 01: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said the proposal of the state government to convert the North East Agri site into a permanent complex, with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crores, has been sanctioned by the Union Ministry of DoNER.
He expected that the sanctioned amount would reach the state government within current financial year.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the workshop on 'Horticulture and allied sectors' at the NE Agri Expo site yesterday, Mr Rio said the horticulture has a huge potential in Nagaland due to its favourable climatic conditions.
''Horticulture can be a driving force for the economic progress of the state,'' he said.
He added, ''The government is playing a proactive role for development of Horticulture in Nagaland.'' The Chief Minister said the government is trying to get the farmers exposed to new technologies.
Secretary Horticulture Thangi Mannen said farmers need to change their mindset and attitude towards the age-old practices and techniques for agricultural production.
