Missing Malegaon couple appear in HC.
Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) A couple which had gone missing after the Malegaon blasts appeared before the Bombay High Court today to dispel allegations that their disappearance was prompted by police action.
Jalil Ahmed had lodged a complaint with the Killa Police stating his brother Abrar Ahmed and his wife Jannatunnisa were missing since October 13. However, unhappy over the police inaction in tracing the couple, Jalil Ahmed moved the High Court.
In his petition to the High Court, Jalil Ahmed cited newspaper reports according to which police was using Abrar Ahmed as an informant in the Malegaon blasts case. HC further submitted that his brother, who ran a business of supplying inverters, was known to many police officers.
However, the couple appeared before judge R S Dalvi and submitted that they had left Malegaon on their own and their disappearance was not prompted by police action.
The couple told the court they had left Malegaon due to a family dispute. The couple also told the court that they apprehended danger to their lives and sought police protection. They told the court that did not want to return back to Malegaon.
