Jaya's counsel seeks protection
Chennai, Nov 01 (UNI) Senior counsel and AIADMK Rajya Sabha member N Jothi today sought adequate protection for himself fearing danger to his life from ruling DMK men.
In a complaint to city police commissioner Latika Saran, Mr Jothi said a person wearing a police constable's cap came to his house early this morning. On questioning, he said he had come from the Secretariat to deliver a letter.
Mr Jothi said he had no reason to receive any letter from the Secretariat and was not maintaining any correspondence with it.
Earlier, he had been given 'Y' grade protection, which was removed after the new Government took over. The incident made him feel that efforts was being made by DMK men to deter him from appearing in court to represent AIADMK chief J Jayalaithaa.
Also, they were irked by his recent television interview about the Chennai City Corporation elections, Mr Jothi said.
Apprehending danger to his life, Mr Jothi said these incidents indicated a plot to either kill him or prevent him from pursuing his career.
If any harm came to him or his family members, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi alone was responsible, he added.
