IT returns filed through Post Offices to be scrutinsed

New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) The government today clarified that Income Tax returns filed through post offices would also be processed and if required, refunds would be issued.

A spokesman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) made this remark when asked to comment on reports that IT returns filed through Post Offices would not be processed.

The spokesman said all steps as entailed by the Income Tax law would be undertaken and procedures followed, including issuing of refunds in cases where it is necessary.
