Install CNG infrastracture, check pollution: JK HC
Srinagar, Nov 1: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the government to pursue the matter of laying of CNG infrastracture in the State with GAIL authorities.
''We find that Principal Secretary Industries Department and the Managing Director, SIDCO, had been only indulging in routine correspondence with GAIL authorities which could hardly elicit any response'', the court said.
The two authorities have, till date, failed to establish any personal contact with the GAIL authorities and to expedite the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or to take any other follow of action in the matter,it added.
The court directed the government through Chief Secretary to depute a competent officer of some other department to pursue the matter with the GAIL authorities personally and to respond to the state Government's requests for laying of CNG infrastracture.
''We reiterate that there must be no difficulty for the State authorities to establish a contact with him and to submit their case for expeditious execution,'' the court said.
It further said complaints have also been received about the working of pollution centres set up under the Court orders by the Transport Commissioner.
