India should be included in security council: Krishna
Mumbai, Nov 1: Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna lamented the anomaly that a country of the size of India with a population of one billion is not represented on the UN Security Council.
However, he said despite all its shortcomings and infirmities, the United Nations is doing a commendable job through its various agencies.
The Governor was speaking at the 61st UN Day celebration organised by the Indian Federation of United Nations Association and the Maharashtra United Nations Association at the Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor also presented a trophy and certificates to the students of Jamnabai Nursee School who had won the United Nations quiz contest held on this occasion, yesterday.
Consul General of South Africa, Ms Busi Kuzwayo, Consul General of France, Jean Charles Demarquis, Consul General of Afghanisan, Gul Hussain Ahmadi and President of the Maharashtra United Nations Assocation Mrs Pheroza Godrej also spoke on the occassion.
