Idea becomes 6th mobile service provider in UP (E)

Lucknow, Nov 1 (UNI) Idea Cellular Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company, today became the sixth mobile service provider in Uttar Pradesh (East) telecom circle with its launch in 100 towns of the region.

Idea, with about 10 million customers till September last in 10 telecom cicrles of the country, covers 45 per cent of the political and 50 per cent of the telecom market.

Inaugurating the service in the circle, company's MD Sanjeev Aga said better customer service added with wide range of postpaid and prepaid servicers will certainly benefit the users in the region.

''We would introduce competitive tarrif for this circle and provide a tough competition to other mobile service providers in the region,'' he maintained.

Lucknow divisional commissioner Rakesh Mittal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said Idea's entry would certainly give users an innovative product range with latest software and technology in the coming days.

Idea in the first phase, launched today, would cover over 100 towns and villages in six zones of Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Jhansi covering three major national highways.

In the second phase to be launched in December, the company will add another 85 towns and three more national highways in their connectivity list.

Other mobile service providers in the circle are BSNL, Airtel, Hutch, Indicomm and Reliance.
