Mumbai, Oct 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has completed two years in the office today.

Mr Deshmukh took over as Chief Minister after a controversy erupted over who would be the chief minister as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had more number of seats. However, Mr Deshmukh, a leader of Latur in Marathwada, succeeded in tackling the situation and completed two years in office.

He was also the chief minister of the state earlier for three and half years from 1992-2003. In all, Mr Deshmukh has now completed five and half years as Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

He, however, still lags behind illustrious Vasantrao Naik who was the chief minister for consecutive 11 years and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar who was the chief minister for total six and half years.
