Delhi and Chhattisgarh eves enter finals
Jamshedpur, Nov 1 (UNI) Playing some aggressive and dynamic game, Delhi and Chhattisgarh stormed into the Women's finals of the 22nd Federation Cup Basketball Championship at JRD Tata Sports complex here today.
In the first semifinal match, Chhattisgarh girls dominated the Western Railways,the topper from pool A, and established a lead of 38-21 in the half-time.The Chhattisgarh cagers finally clinched the match 66-45 to secure a berth for tomorrow's final.
Anju Lakra and Bharti Netam scored 15 and 14 points respecively for the winning team while Lincy Joshep scored 13 for the Railways.
The second semifinal,however,witnessed a close contest between the last year's runners up Delhi and Kerala.The cagers from both the teams played attacking basketball as the scoreline of half-time (33-31) showed the keen tussel.
But despite showing much promise the Kerala girls could not hold the tempo after the break. They were unabale to basket time and again while the Delhi girls, under the captaincy of Asha Hegde, played beautifully. Divya Singh of Delhi led the attack to score 33 points while Hegde scored 12 with one three pointers.
For Kerala Sonia Joshep and Reshma scored 20 and 15 points respecively.
