Cong leader's killing solved, four held
Varanasi, Nov 1 (UNI) With the arrest of four contract killers working for the Babu Yadav gang here today, the district police claimed to have solved the October 27 killing of Congress leader Ram Lal Triapthi.
Senior Police Superintendent Ashutosh Pandey told newspersons here this evening that Pintu Yadav, Bharat Lal Bind, Sheru Gupta and Manoj Gupta were held from Rajghat area under Adampura police station area here this morning. Four countrymade revolvers, live cartridges and two motor cycles were recovered from them.
During on interrogation, the arrested four admitted to have committed the killing at the behest of gang leader Ramesh Yadav alias Babu presently lodged in the Ghazipur district jail. They also admitted to have met Babu in jail before Diwali and having received Rs 20,000 in advance for killing the Congress leader, the SSP added.
Incidentally, Ramesh Yadav alias Babu contested the urban body polls from Baghara Municipal Ward of Varanasi yesterday as the official candidate of ruling Samajwadi Party.
Mr Tripathi, a former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) member was shot dead in the Adampur area here on October 27 last.
