6 women ordained as pastors

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 1: Six women have been ordained as full-fledged pastors authorised to perform ministerial and local church administrative functions for the first time in the history of the 300-year-old Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (TELC).

Rev S Dora Thilagavathy, Rev R Cornelia Gunaseeli, Rev J Jeevajothi Martin, Rev A Sesela Gnanabai, Rev R Valarmathyu and Rev H Adlin Reginabai were ordained along with nine men at a ceremony at the TELC Holy Trinity Church here last night.

The TELC has 113 pastorates with 105 pastors.
