'No sealing on Nov 1 in view of Delhi Bandh'
New Delhi, Oct 31: There will be no sealing of commercial establishments in Delhi tomorrow in view of the Delhi bandh called by the traders, the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee on the sealing issue today said.
The committee, however, said the sealing operation would resume from November 2.
Earlier too, the Monitoring Committee had issued instructions to suspend sealing drive in view of the Delhi Bandh on May 11.
The Monitoring Committee's decision to suspend sealing tomorrow comes a day after the committee sent to the Supreme Court, a report forwarding pleas by the MCD and political leaders to postpone the proposed sealing drive from November 1 till the finalisation of the Master Plan.
The MCD had, in a communication to the Monitoring Committee, favoured postponement of the drive citing volatile law and order situation in the city.
The MCD communication to the committee noted that in the present situation when the traders had come out on the streets, going ahead with the sealing drive could lead to serious law and order consequences. Hence, it called for deferring the sealing drive till finalisation of the Master Plan 2021.
