Sensex at all time high of 13,002 mark

Mumbai, Oct 30: For the first time ever the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) today achieved the much awaited figure of 13k at around 12:30 hrs, touching an all-time high of 13,031.39, as intense buying continued in the Banking and Health care sectors.

However currently it is trading at 12,981.53, which is 74.72 poitns more than the previous close.

The figure of 13k was long overdue as quarter 2 (Q2) results surpassed the street expectations by long margin. Ever since Infosys declared its results for the second quarter the sensex has been in a resurgent mood, except the auto sector which showed a blip on the BSE sectoral indices for the second quarter. All other sectors, includiong Banking, IT, Health, Oil&Gas and the Technology sectors have been in the green.

Experts believe this momentum will now continue for some time and the next rally will be at 13,300-500 mark. Few even believe the sensex has the potential to even touch the 15k mark, given India's strong economic fundametals, despite the rising inflation and overstretched valuation of the Indian stocks.

In the intra-noon trade today, except the Consumer Durable sector, all other sectors were trading in the green.

Major gainers in the intra-noon trade on BSE-30 index were Dr Reddy's Lab, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communciations, L&T, ICICI Bank, Reliance Energy, Cipla, Grasim Industries, HLL and HDFC, who are all up between 0.75 to 2.69 per cent.

The losers on the index were Wipro, BHEL, Satyam Computers, Tata Motors, HDFC, SBI, TCS, Maruti Udyog, Ranbaxy Lab and Gujarat Ambuja who are all down between 0.21 per cent to 1.37 per cent.
