Centre, Delhi govt bending to please traders: RWA

New Delhi, Oct 29: Even as the Delhi Government seeks postponment of the MCD's proposed sealing drive from November 1, the RWAs have expressed concern over the developments describing them as as case of ''threats of the trader community working on the Governments at the Centre and the State.

In a letter to the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring Committee on the sealing issue, the RWAs of East Delhi said,''the ability to strike and come on the streets should not determine the facts of the case.'' Castigating Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for bringing a resolution in the state assembly which attempts to defeat the orders of the Supreme Court, they said,''the manner in which the Government of Delhi is on its knees in front of traders threats is appaling.'' Seeking an appointment with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the RWAs said,''our desire to meet with the Congress president is on the very basis that the traders met her. We are a larger community of residents than them and deserve to have our side of the story told.''
