Sugar price eases on poor demand

Mumbai, Oct 27 (UNI) Spot sugar prices today drifted lower on poor demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.

Sugar small and medium grades dropped by Rs six and Rs four per quintal, respectively, on thin buying support.

Ex-mill small and medium grades also fell by Rs five each per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure by stockists.

Following were the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,747/1,776, medium grade:Rs 1,767/1,826, Ex-mill:Small grade: Rs 1,730/1,750, medium grade:Rs 1,755/1,795.
