Paddy procurement streamlined: Divakaran
Kottayam, Oct 27 (UNI) Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran said today that steps had been taken to streamline the ongoing paddy procurement.
Talking to newsmen after examining the procurement procedure in the region following complaints, the Minister assured existing procedure would continue till the end of harvest season and the entire good quality paddy would be procured.
So far 3.2 lakh quintals of paddy had been procured and Rs 10,02,07,066 had been paid towards the cost.
Besides 14,310 quintals of rice had been given for distribution through ration shops.
The Minister said that 47,000 quintals of paddy had been procured from Kottayam District till today against 42,000 quintals during the corresponding period last year.
