India, Congo call for UN reforms

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) India and Congo today stressed the need for the reform of the UN system, including the Security Council, building on the strong foundation of political friendship and developing ties in trade, education, investment and other fields.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee met the Foreign Minister of Republic of Congo, Mr Rudolphe Adada, here this afternoon and offered to extend cooperation for capacity building and specialised training.

He also agreed to look into the possibilities of cooperation in agriculture, railways and technical training.

It was agreed that agreements to set up an institutional framework for promoting bilateral cooperation would be finalised in preparation for the visit of the President of Republic of Congo in 2007.
