Illegal encroachments complex and chronic problem: Apang
Itanagar, Oct 27 (UNI) Rampant illegal encroachments throughout Arunachal Pradesh is a complex and a chronic problem involving the hands of politicians and bureaucrats alike, said Chief Minister Gegong Apang while responding to a private member's resolution in the assembly yesterday.
It was moved by BJP MLA Bosiram Siram.
Mr Apang said his government was receiving reports of illegal encroachments from various corners of the state and the solution lay only in a united and concerted action from various quarters including the politicians, bureaucrats and the civil societies to arrest the burning problem.
''Requisite law has been framed by the government but people don't listen to it,'' lamented Apang, while pleading the people to differentiate between greed and need in the interest of the coming generations.
Informing of the need to re-constitute a committee soon to curtail the menace, the chief minister supported the resolution and advocated that rampant and illegal encroachments at the capital complex, district headquarters and other places of the state should be tackled stringently and effectively by implementing the already framed Law of Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants Act, 2003 in letter and spirit.
