Four NLFT collaborators arrested

Agartala, Oct 27 (UNI) Security forces apprehended four suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura(NLFT) collaborators for their alleged involvement in yesterday's ambush on Tripura State Rifle (TSR) jawans.

Two jawans were killed at Joychandpara under Manu police station area in Dhalai district in the ambush by suspected cadres of the Biswamohan faction of the banned outfit.

The arrested persons were identified as Habel Kaloi of Teliamura, Labarel Kaloi(40) of Dhumacherra, Surendra Debbarma(42) and Tipendra Debbarma(26) of Maharani area. Habel is currently the Principal of an English medium school in Khumulung in Tripura's West district, police said. They further added that he was also acting as a middleman of the banned outfit to collect extortion from railway contractors.

A top police official said yesterday's attack was carried out by Takendra Debbarma, self-styled leader of NLFT.

Incidentally, six security personnel were killed in the past one week in three ambushes by the NLFT and All Tripura Tigers Force.

The ruling CPI(M) has condemned the killing. In a release it alleged that the attack was carried out to disrupt the railway construction work. It further asked the police to take all possible steps to nab the ultras responsible for the recent attacks.

The Congress has also condemned the dastardly acts.
