Troops gun down youth

Imphal, Oct 26 (UNI) Troops shot dead a suspected militant at Thoubal district.

The PRO, AR said that troops of 34 Assam Rifles gunned down the youth after a brief encounter yesterday.

Unknown persons fired upon the troops, the troops retaliated and later a man was found dead.

The PRO said that one AK magazine, 20 rounds of AK ammunition, 145 fired cases of AK, seven fired cases of lethode bombs and one pouch were recovered.

Meanwhile, police said that during the past 24 hours two hardcore militants were nabbed by the police.

A cadre of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and another from kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) were nabbed by Thoubal police in separate incidents.
