UP CM greets on EID

Lucknow, Oct 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today felicitated shias on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan.

Mr Yadav visited the Asifi Maszid Bada Imambara and wished the Muslim community prosperity in every walk of life.

In his message, the Samajwadi Party supremo said Eid-ul-Fitr symbolises patience, self-discipline and compassion which are the vital elements of Islam. Besides, the festival shows to mankind the path to humanity.

''The significance of Eid is that people observe the ninth month of the Muslim calendar by fasting and for purification of soul. It is a period of worship and the real joy lies in sharing happiness with lesser blessed sections of society,'' he observed.

''The great religion of Islam preaches harmony, self-restraint, equality, brotherhood and peace, which assume greater significance in the present day world,'' he added.

The Chief Minster expressed hopes that Eid-- a festival which spreads the message of brotherhood, would usher in an era of peace and prosperity.
