Chandigarh, Oct 25: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today expressed his gratitude to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh for considering his request to get the alleged anti-Jat remarks deleted from NCERT books.

Mr Hooda, accompanied by a delegation of Jat Mahasabha, had recently called on Mr Arjun Singh and urged him to get the objectionable remarks deleted at the earliest.

Mr Arjun Singh had assured Mr Hooda that in case there were remarks against any community, these would be got removed from the books.

Mr Hooda had also suggested that some ways and means be adopted to prevent any such reccurrence in future as such remarks hurt the sentiments of the people.

The state government, he said, had taken a decision at its own level to delete such remarks as they led to social problems and hurt the sentiments of the people.

Mr Hooda said the prompt action taken by the Centre had been highly appreciated not only by the members of the Jat community but also by other sections of the society.
