Bhubaneswar, Oct 24 (UNI) Rayagada police today arrested two Personal Security Officers(PSO) for their involvement in the killing of South Western Range DIG Jaswinder Singh near Badakatinga in the naxalite-dominated Rayagada district yesterday.

State Director General of Police Amarananda Pattnaik, who airdashed to Rayagada for an on the spot investigation into the incident, told newspersons here that a murder case had been registered in the Rayagada police station on the basis of complaint filed by the driver of the DIG.

He said the two PSOs - S N Sharanghi and A K Sharanghi - will be produced before a magistrate tomorrow and the Crime Branch had been asked to investigate the details of the incident, including the conspiracy angle if any in the death of Mr Singh.

The DGP said though a FIR was lodged against the two PSOs at the Rayagada Police station yesterday at 1245 hrs, police were confused about the killing as the versions of the PSOs and the driver were not coherent.

While the driver stated that the DIG was killed by one of the PSOs, the two PSOs accompanying the DIG all along maintained that the DIG was killed by the naxalites.

It was only after a detailed investigation into the incident that a clear picture emerged to rule out the involvement of the naxalites in the incident.
