Traders to protest FDI in retail sector

Kochi, Oct 24 (UNI) The Kerala State Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi today said the Centre's move to allow foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector would adveresely affect the interests of retailers in the country.

Talking to mediapersons here, Samithi President Binny Immatty said the entry of multinationals in the retail sector would be detrimental to the more than five crore retailers in the country.

The Samithi would take out a rally to Parliament on November 23 and various protest programmes would begin in the state from tomorrow, he added.

He also urged the government to make requisite amendments to the outdated adulteration law.
