Take back 5 employees: JIPMER Anti Conversion Committee

Puducherry, Oct 24 (UNI) The JIPMER Anti-Conversion Peoples Action Committee today urged the administration to reinstate five terminated employees as per the court direction and warned of agitation in front of the institution.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr T Murugan, President of the Committee and AIADMK state unit secretary A Anbazhagan said even after the court direction, the JIPMER administration was delaying their reinstatement. If the administration fails to reinstate them in two days time, the committee would launch its agitation with a demonstration in front of the hospital.

Mr Murugan said a delegation of the Committee had met several political party leaders, including C P M leader Prakash Karat who assured that he would oppose the move to grant autonomy to JIPMER when the Bill was introduced in the Parliament.

The employees of JIPMER went on indefinite strike against the autonomy, paralyising health services in the institution for 22 days. This resulted in suspension of over 50 employees and termination of five others.
