NE Monsoon vigorous over TN, more rains predicted

Chennai, Oct 24 (UNI) The North East Monsoon has become more vigorous as the trough of low pressure over the southwest bay off Tamil Nadu persisted today.

Weather office sources told UNI, under its influence rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 48 hrs.

Chennai and its suburbs experienced incessant rainfall since last night. The skies remained overcast from morning with frequent showers.

Reports here said several parts of Tamil Nadu, especially the southern districts of Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari received good rainfall.

The water level in the dams in these districts had risen over the last two days.

The delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur also reported copious rainfall.
