Govt official arrested for illegal appointments
Itanagar, Oct 24: The vigilance branch of the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) in Arunachal Pradesh has arrested former director of Urban Development and Housing department on charges of illegally appointing 113 persons in various departmental posts in between 2000 to 2004.
Consequent upon a public complaint, a criminal case was registered at the SIC against former director A Morang. The vigilance cell formally arrested him yesterday for violating all the prescribed norms of recruitment during his tenure, official sources informed here today.
The case had been forwarded to the court of Special Judge (West) at Yupia for hearing.
The Director was arrested for illegally appointing various people of his choice to the posts of Assistant Urban Programme Officers (AUPOs), draughtsman, art assistants, surveyors, inspectors, Ferro painters, upper divisional clerk, lower divisional clerks, drivers, peons and chowkidars, sources added.
