Ex-Minister discharged from hospital

Chennai, Oct 24: Exactly 76 days after he was flown to the Apollo Hospital here with multiple fractures after a road accident in Tuticorin, Senior Congress Leader and Former Union Minister R Dhanushkodi Athithan was discharged last night.

Hospital sources told sources today that, all the vital parameters of Mr Athithan, who was also the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha MP, had been functioning well and he was discharged yesterday.

Mr Athithan, who suffered multiple injuries in a road accident near the Tuticorin Airport on August five in which his wife had died, was airlifted to the Apollo Hospitals on August nine.

Since then he had been undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. After he made steady progress, he was shifted to the general ward on September 29.

He would stay at his daughter's house in the city and undergo physiotherapy for two months after which he is expected to walk normally.
