Shimla, Oct 24 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh today detained proprietor of the BRC Institute of Chandigarh, NPS Bindra, in the HP Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPM) paper scam, claiming that his arrest will help them in identifying the main culprit behind the scam.

Mr Bindra, wanted in the paper leak case, was arrested after he had arrived here to seek bail from a local court, a senior official, requesting anonymity told UNI here.

He said Mr Bindra might be arrested to ascertain his role in the paper leak scam, adding that he had been arranging PMT paper for students for some time now.

Two of the candidates who figured in the first merit list and failed to get in second merit list after re-appearing in the PMT test were students of his institute, he said.

The official said he is a close associate of Devinder Singh from Sirhind, who was also arrested recently for his role in the PMT paper leak case.

Both were hand in glove in leaking the paper, he said, adding that Devinder was also wanted in Punjab and Delhi in paper leak scams.

He said both used to approach candidates with a promise to get them admission in medical colleges in different states of the country through their training institutes.

The police was also likely to get more information from Bindra on the paper leaks in other parts of the country, the official added.
