UP Forest Corporation MD suspened over financial irregularities

Lucknow, Oct 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today suspended UP Forest Corporation managing director J S Asthana over serious financial irregularities in sale of 'tendu' leaf, besides ''glaring laxities'' in discharge of official duty.

Forest department principal secretary V N Garg said here today that Asthana brought financial loss to the exchequer due to his several acts of commission and ommission, following which he was suspended.

An inquiry had also been ordered in this regard.

Meanwhile, R P Tiwari has been posted in place of Asthana.
