Trail run begins on Delhi Metro's Barakhamba-IP Ext stretch

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Trial run of trains on the Barakhamba Road to Indraprastha Extension stretch of Delhi Metro's line 3 began today.

Trail run took place between 0100 hrs to 0300 hrs this morning, Delhi Metro Rail sources said.

The train was made to move at 25 kmph on one of the tracks on manual control. It would run on the other track tonight. Thereafter that it run on its normal speed on automatic train control before the safety commissioner cleared the segment for regular passenger traffic.

The 2.8 km section, with three stations Mandi House, Pragati Maidan and Indraprastha Ext., formed part of the existing Barakhamba to Dwarka line.

The train would emerge from underground at Mandi House and run elevated from there on.

The section was slated to be inaugurated on November 10, before the India International Trade Fair began on November 14 at Pragati Maidan.
