SJVNL hands over Rs 39.86 crore draft to HP Government

Shimla, Oct 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said his government would allot several more hydel projects in the future to harness its identified hydel potential.

''Before allotting the projects the government will ensure that the interests of the local people are safe,'' he said, while accepting a draft of Rs 39.86 crore from Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVNL) Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) H K Sharma as its share in the Nathpa Jhakri hydel project.

Mr Singh said the hydel projects would only be offered to companies that follow the state's new Power Policy and do no deviate from the original provisions.

Himachal, which has a 25 per cent share in the project, had earned a dividend of Rs 39.86 crore on a total of Rs 159.42 crore during 2005-06.

The NJPC had announced Rs 159.42 crore dividend over a turnover of Rs 1391.78 crore, while earning a profit of Rs 498.22 crore recently.
