Patna, Oct 23 (UNI) In the aftermath of bitter political bickering with RJD supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, party heavyweight and former Minister Shivanand Tiwari today resigned as the party's national spokesperson.

In his letter to Mr Prasad, Mr Tiwari referred to his contribution for strengthening the party with full commitment but stated that owing to this emotional attachment with the party, he was unable to abandon it and wished the organisation to revive its lost glory.

The result of the Assembly election bore an ample testimony to the fact that the party had lost its credibility and the mandate was not in its favour, he said.

He said the Railway Minister rejected his suggestion for handing over the party's leadership to some one belonging to the minority community, but Mr Prasad again made his wife Rabri Devi the party leader, and with this started the downfall of the RJD.

Mr Tiwari said the people had an impression that the party faced the debacle just because of the alleged nepotism by Mr Prasad and suggested the Railway Minister to adhere to ''healthy politics'' paving the way for democracy within the organisation.
