Ramdev felicitated on his return from the UN

Hardwar, Oct 23: Noted Yoga guru Swami Ramdev was accorded a standing ovation on his return from New York, where he was invited as a guest at a United Nations-sponsored programme against poverty, organised by the Millennium Campaign.

Last evening, as his procession starting from Patanjali Yoga Peeth passed through the main street of the city to Har-Ki-Pauri, he was greeted by thousands of well-wishers on the 20-km route.

Speaking at a function organised by the Ganga Sabha and the sant community at Har-Ki-Pauri, the former Shankracharya and founder of Bharat Mata Mandir, Swami Satyamitranand Giriji lauded the role of Ramdev as a crusader of the ancient Indian skills of yoga, ayurveda and meditation.

Emphasising the importance of yoga and ayurveda, Swami Ramdev said removal of poverty, hunger and diseases had always been dear to his heart and that yoga and ayurveda could play a vital role in achieving these goals and improving the quality of life all over the world.
