Kidwai calls for coordination between welfare agencies

Chandigarh , Oct 23 (UNI) Better coordination is required between various welfare agencies like Bharitya Grameen Mahila Sangh, Red Cross, Council for Child Welfare and Sainik Board for proper implementation of programmes for women, children, aged and handicapped, Haryana Governor and President of the Indian Red Cross Society (Haryana branch) Dr A R Kidwai, said here today.

Presiding over the meeting of Haryana branch of the Red Cross Society here, he stressed the need for making welfare programmes a mass movement so as to improve the living condition of people of the state.

He said village-level women and child committees be constituted with members from various government and non government organisations for launching a 'Jan Chetna' campaign at the grass root level. He added that a meeting of all these agencies will be convened soon to chalk out an extensive programme for carrying out welfare programmes effectively in all parts of the state.

The Governor also announced nomination of Mr Deepender Hooda, Member Parliament, Ms Kalpana Ghai and Mr Raj Kumar Gupta as members of the managing body of the Haryana branch of the Indian Red Cross Society. He also congratulated Mr Deepender Hooda for his election as member of national managing body of the Indian Red Cross, New Delhi.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda called upon the officers to give a boost to the welfare programmes at the grass root level so that the people may feel the change. He asked them to keep a strict vigil on the female foeticide programme so as to check the dwindling sex ratio in the State.

The Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr M L Tayal directed the Deputy Commissioners to give top priority to the implementation of female foeticide programme in the state as it is a slur on the society.

It was decided in the meeting that the state Red Cross Society honorary General Secretary would be empowered to sanction an amount up to Rs one lakh and Vice-Chairman up to Rs five lakh. The Honorary Senior Vice-Chairman would be empowered to sanction a budget above Rs five lakh. Similarly President and Secretary, District Red Cross Branch would be empowered to sanction an amount of upto Rs 3,000 each.
