Kapat of Gangotri Dham closed for winter
Dehradun, Oct 23 (UNI) The ''Kapat'' (Door) of Gangotri Dham, one of the four Dhams of Uttaranchal was closed today for winter season in accordance to the Vedic tradition amid chanting of mantras in the presence of members of Mandir Committee, purohits and representatives of District administration.
SDM Bhatwari, D N Ghildiyal told UNI that exactly at 1100 hrs, Gangotri Dham was closed for the public. He informed that the 'Bhog Murti Doli' of Ganga took off for the Mukhba village where it would remain for whole winter season. He said the Doli would reach Dyanki Devi Mandir, 1.5 km before Mukhba village tonight and would begin its journey the next day afternoon for Mukhba (Mukhimath) village where it would be re-established in Gangotri Temple and remain there for six months.
